Maize
Strip-till
As a crop cultivated in wide rows, maize occupies 13% of the field area. The question arises whether there is a need for interrow cultivation?
In the case of the strip-till technology, we can meet all the necessary conditions required for proper plant growth, the core of which is the root. Fertilisers applied directly under the plant are more effective for plant growth.
By comparing this fertiliser application system with a disc coulter down to the depth of 10 cm, we obtain an improved use of the fertiliser and a much more expanded root system.
By using dedicated 80 mm wide maize blades with the unit, operating at depths down to 35 cm, the soil becomes loosened and aerated, accelerating the heating of the cultivated soil strip and creating the appropriate conditions required for quick plant growth.
The remaining 87% covered by a mulch layer as a water storage that does not evaporate. The uncultivated soil in the interrows has a structure with increased soil load, resulting in a harvest without the “tracks” effect under the unfavourable moisture conditions present during the autumn.
