Cereals
Strip-till
Despite the many opponents of the use of strip-till with cereals, we would like to clearly stress the fact that plants require good soil loosening and aeration, as the fibrous root system is not shallow, despite what it may seem, and cultivation without deep loosening is going to fail in a long-term perspective.
Air in the soil is needed for cereals to provide satisfactory yields.
Cereals cultivated in the wide strip and narrow interrow technology spread better around their own axis and do not compete within the row. As a result, we can observe improved ventilation of the field.
Field experiments showed that the yield increase was 5.1% and the amount of straw was 14.7% higher, favouring strip-till, of course. The advantage of sowing using an undercutting, wide cultivation point coulter over other coulter types lies in the fact that the seed is always deposited in a clean sowing bed.
